Troubled 8,100-TEU MOL Charisma under tow in Gulf of Siam
THE troubled 8,100-TEU MOL Charisma under tow again in Gulf of Siam after engine failure while en route from Singapore to Laem Chabang, Thailand, reports Kiev’s Maritime Bulletin, a marine casualty specialist.
After several hours adrift, the ship was at emergency anchorage in Gulf of Siam but was later understood later to be under tow back to Singapore.
Towage commenced on December 17, as of December 19 the ship was still under way with offshore tug Bridgewater 130.
In July, MOL Charisma experienced a grounding in the South China Sea. She also suffered a fire in cargo hold off Sri Lanka, and had to interrupt her voyage from Port Klang to Mumbai.
The Bahamas-flagged 90,390-dwt MOL Charisma is operated by Hapag-Lloyd.
