ZIM Integrated Shipping Services, a worldwide container liner shipping firm, has released its consolidated results for the three months ending 31 March 2023. Carried volume in the first quarter was 769,000 TEUs, a 10% drop year on year, while the average freight cost per TEU was US$1,390, a 64% decline year on year. Revenues for the first quarter were US$1.374 billion, a 63% decline year over year. Furthermore, the first-quarter net loss was US$58 million. Wan Hai Lines AA7 service added a direct call at the port of Colombo. The first vessel will be Wan Hai A10 voy.001 and will arrive in Colombo on 16 May 2023. The service will be operated by 12 container vessels with a capacity of 8,500-13,100 TEUs, strengthening the service coverage between Indian subcontinent and USA, according to Wan Hai. MSC has decided to strengthen its intra-Asia network aiming to provide new direct connections, as well as improved transit times and increased capacity. The following upgraded services will come into effect in June 2023.
