Phnom Penh Port Reports Positive Figures
Chea Chandara, Chairman of the Logistics and Supply Chain Business Association (LOSCBA), highlighted that the increase in container transport and freight services reflects improvements in Cambodia’s policies and economy, benefiting transport companies and providers of import-export services.
Phnom Penh Port (PPAP), Cambodia’s largest freshwater international port, is expanding its domestic container transport network and international shipping services. With competitive shipping rates and a strategic location only 200 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City, the port facilitates the development of affordable shipping services for logistics companies.
Meanwhile, Sihanoukville Port (PAS), Cambodia’s largest seaport, reported a 6.35% increase in container volume in 2023, reaching 797,778 TEUs. Transport companies and exporters can leverage this infrastructure to expand their operations.
With total international trade reaching $40.94 billion in the first nine months of 2024, a 16.4% increase, Cambodia is becoming an attractive market for freight and transport service providers. This presents an opportunity for Vietnamese logistics companies to develop international shipping services and container transportation to this growing market.
