Chinese container ports kick off new year handling over 24 million TEU
The container throughput of the Chinese ports was 24.2 million TEU in January, which translates to a slight year-on-year growth of 1.6%.
The port of Shanghai has expectedly reported the highest container volumes, handling 4.35 million TEU, with Ningbo&Zhousan and Shenzhen following, moving 2.97 million TEU and 2.46 million TEU respectively.
Meanwhile, Dalian has achieved the largest percentage container increase of 36% compared to January 2021 figures, while the port of Lianyungang follows with a 15% box growth.
Only three ports marked a year-on-year container volume decrease during the first month of 2022. Yinkou, Shenzhen and Guangzhou
