Export of Value-Added Pangasius to the U.S. Reaches Nearly 3 Million USD
According to the latest data from Vietnam Customs, exports of pangasius to the U.S. market are showing positive signs, creating significant opportunities for international shipping. In the first eight months of 2024, pangasius export turnover to the U.S. reached 226 million USD, up 23% compared to the same period last year, accounting for 19% of Vietnam’s total pangasius export value. Notably, August 2024 saw an impressive growth of 40% year-on-year, reaching over 35 million USD.
Frozen pangasius fillets remain the main product, making up 96% of total pangasius exports to the U.S. This dominance of frozen products places high demands on sea freight and shipping services, requiring modern cold storage and refrigerated containers to ensure product quality during transportation.

Value-Added Pangasius Exports to the U.S. Reach Nearly 3 Million USD
Notably, the export of value-added pangasius products to the U.S. is experiencing record growth. August 2024 recorded the highest export value to date, with nearly 3 million USD, a 15-fold increase compared to the same period last year. This surge creates new demand for international shipping services, especially in the transportation and preservation of processed products.
Battered pangasius fillets are gaining popularity among U.S. consumers, with export turnover reaching nearly 6 million USD in the first eight months of the year. This requires transport and logistics companies to develop specialized solutions for transporting processed food products, ensuring quality and flavor are maintained throughout the shipping process.
With over 67 businesses involved in exporting pangasius to the U.S., Vietnam’s logistics industry is presented with a significant opportunity to expand and enhance service quality. Forwarding companies need to focus on optimizing transportation processes, investing in cargo tracking technology, and developing integrated logistics solutions to meet the diverse needs of exporting businesses.
To fully capitalize on this opportunity, Vietnam’s logistics industry must focus on enhancing the capacity for frozen goods transport, investing in modern cold storage and refrigerated containers, and developing specialized transport solutions for processed food products. Strengthening cooperation with logistics partners in the U.S. will help improve transport efficiency and expand distribution networks. Finally, improving import and export services, particularly customs and quarantine procedures, will play a crucial role in boosting pangasius exports to the U.S. market and enhancing Vietnam’s logistics industry’s position on the global stage.
