Highlighting Vietnam’s Export Products to Cambodia
According to the latest data from the General Department of Customs, bilateral trade between Vietnam and Cambodia reached an impressive $6.829 billion in the first eight months of 2024, up 14.39% compared to the same period last year. This growth opens up significant opportunities for the international transportation sector, especially in cross-border road transport.
Exports to Cambodia in August 2024 reached $465 million, contributing to a total of $3.5 billion for the eight-month period, marking a 3.9% increase compared to the same period last year. This demonstrates the growing demand for freight services between the two countries.

The total bilateral trade volume between Vietnam and Cambodia reached $6.83 billion in the first eight months of 2024, up 14.4%.
Textiles and garments continue to lead the list of export items to Cambodia, with a trade value of $590.7 million in the eight months, up 10.2%. This growth requires transport and logistics companies to enhance their capacities to meet the increased shipping demand in the textile industry.
Steel, along with raw materials for textiles, footwear, and leather, are also major export items, with trade values reaching $491.2 million and $244 million, respectively, over the eight-month period. This diversity in the export structure creates opportunities for forwarder companies to develop specialized services for each type of goods.
Notably, some products have recorded impressive growth, such as wood and wood products (up 64.7%), rubber products (up 102.1%), and coffee (up 74.7%). This strong growth requires the logistics industry to quickly adapt to meet the increasing and diverse transportation demands.
Although there has been a decline in exports of some goods, such as petroleum and fertilizers, the overall trade picture remains very positive. This creates opportunities for transportation companies to optimize processes and diversify services to offset the decline in certain sectors.
As one of Cambodia’s leading trading partners, Vietnam is opening up many opportunities for the logistics industry. International shipping services, especially to Cambodia, need to be developed and improved in quality to meet the growing demand.
In general, the strong development of Vietnam-Cambodia trade relations is creating a new wave of opportunities for the transportation industry. To fully tap into this potential, logistics companies need to invest in technology, improve service quality, and optimize cross-border transport processes. By doing so, the logistics sector will not only strongly support trade development but could also become a key driver in promoting economic cooperation between the two neighboring countries.
