In the first 4 months, agricultural, forestry and fishery exports brought in nearly $20 billion
Vietnam’s agriculture is becoming a “green garden” providing clean food sources for many countries around the world. To deliver Vietnamese agricultural products to international consumers, transportation companies, logistics companies, and freight forwarders providing cargo shipping and import-export services play an important role. According to the latest data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the first 4 months of 2024, the total export value of agriculture, forestry and fishery products reached a record $19.06 billion, soaring 23.7% over the same period last year.
Vietnamese agricultural, forestry and fishery products are present in 180 markets
The largest contribution to this impressive result came from major agricultural products such as rice, coffee, fruits and vegetables, and cashew nuts. To deliver these items to international markets, transportation services such as sea freight and air freight with reasonable freight rates are widely used. Coffee exports alone increased by 57.9%, bringing revenue to $2.57 billion. The rice market also witnessed a breakthrough with a turnover of $2.08 billion, up 36.5% over the same period last year. Not only quantity but quality was also improved, reflected in the average rice export price of $644/ton, up 22.2%.
Besides agricultural products, forestry and fishery items also recorded impressive growth. Wood and wood products reached $4.84 billion in revenue, up 23.7%; shrimp exports brought in $937 million, up 5.9%. To safely and quickly transport these items, container shipping services, domestic container transportation, and international container transportation are prioritized. The livestock sector also recorded a positive signal with export turnover reaching $152 million, up 3.6%.
The US, China and Japan continued to be the three top destinations, accounting for nearly half of the total turnover. However, emerging markets such as the Islamic region, the Middle East and Africa were also effectively exploited through professional goods export and import services.
In summary, the above figures reflect the unremitting efforts of Vietnamese farmers and the agricultural business community in improving quality, diversifying products and expanding export markets. To support this process, logistics companies, transportation companies, and container shipping companies play an important role in providing international transportation services, export services and reasonable freight rates. Thanks to this, it brings more opportunities for Vietnamese agricultural products to penetrate deeper into major markets.
