Việt Nam, Australia cooperate to develop offshore wind power projects
Deputy Prime Minister Trần Hồng Hà welcomed Australian Ambassador to Vietnam, Andrew Goledzinowski, alongside leaders of Corio Generation, part of Australia’s Macquarie Group, in Hà Nội on March 28. This meeting underscored the significant strides in international logistics services and the global transport sector, particularly focusing on green energy transition—a field where logistics and freight companies play a crucial role.
The Deputy PM commended the initiative shown by Corio Generation and Power Generation Joint Stock Corporation 3 (EVNGENCO 3) in pioneering an offshore windfarm project in Vietnam. This venture not only symbolizes a landmark collaboration between Vietnam and Australia but also highlights the evolving landscape of cargo logistics services, freight forwarding, and the role of international shipping companies in supporting sustainable projects.

Acknowledging the project as a cornerstone for the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Australia, the Deputy PM emphasized its contribution towards Vietnam’s Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) objectives. He urged Corio Generation to enhance their logistic services provider capabilities by focusing on technology support, transfer, and expanding partnerships within the freight and logistics services sector in Vietnam.
Ambassador Goledzinowski reiterated the importance of the green energy transition as a pivotal area of cooperation, further strengthened by the engagement of global transport and logistics business sectors, including cargo & logistics and freight delivery services. He highlighted the enthusiasm of Australian businesses, backed by international logistics services and freight and shipping companies, in exploring Vietnam’s potential for offshore wind farm development.
Leaders from Corio Generation, leveraging their experience as a cargo logistics company and a participant in international shipping and logistics, called for the Vietnamese government to implement supportive mechanisms and policies. Such measures would facilitate investment in renewable energy, creating a more favorable environment for freight service providers, shipping service companies, and those in the logistics service provider and international shipping companies domain to contribute to Vietnam’s energy sector.
Since 2019, Corio has been instrumental in researching and developing renewable energy projects in Vietnam. As a member of the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ), the company exemplifies how the logistics business, including air freight cargo from Singapore and cargo freight shipping, can mobilize resources for energy transition projects. This collaboration reflects the growing intersection between international logistics services, freight and logistics companies, and sustainable energy initiatives in Vietnam.
